Colorado East Community Action Agency (CECAA)
Serving low income, disabled, and senior residents of Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, and Lincoln counties in rural Eastern Colorado with a holistic approach to self sufficiency.
Purpose and Mission
The mission of Colorado East Community Action Agency (CECAA) is to stabilize families and move them out of poverty by promoting and advocating economic self-sufficiency, personal responsibility and asset building through education, case management and collaboration with local, state, private and federal resources.
How We Are Unique
Most poverty-related organizations focus on specific areas of need, such as job training, health care, housing, or economic development. CECAA reaches out to low-income people in our community and addresses their multiple needs through a comprehensive approach, by developing partnerships with other community organizations, involving low-income clients in the agency's operations, and administrating a range of coordinated programs designed to have a measurable impact on poverty.
Our own programs include Medicare counseling and fraud prevention, emergency utility assistance, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), free income tax preparation, and employment readiness. By coordinating with other agencies we are able to assess the needs of individual clients, guide them through the system and provide linkages to available assistance.
The Promise of Community Action
CECAA changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes our community a better place to live. We are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
